Dear Mr Medawar,
RE: DETRUSITOL ADVERTISEMENT
GENERAL PRACTITIONER OF 17 MARCH 2000I refer to your letters dated 24 March and 28 December 2000 to Mr Alder concerning the above. I apologise for the long delay in responding.
You may be interested to know that as a result of our investigations and correspondence with the Marketing Authorisation Holder (MAH), the advertisement has been amended.
All advertising material which makes reference to "selectivity" will include the following qualifying statement:
"Detrusitol has been shown to have greater selectivity for the bladder than the salivary glands in studies involving animals(4) - the clinical significance of this has not been established".
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
Yours sincerely MRS JAN MACDONALD Product Information & Advertising
