Dear Mrs Anderson,
Following my letter to Mr Dobson on 2 December 1997, I wrote again on 15 April to ask if the Department was able to provide its best estimate of the cost to the NHS of injury from prescribed drugs taken with therapeutic intent, expressed as a proportion of the national drug bill. I have not received any acknowledgment, nor a reply.
I would be grateful if you would let me know if I can expect a reply, to include the information requested and, if so, roughly when. I get frequent calls from journalists asking about this, so it would help me to know where the Department stands. Many thanks.
