Dear Sir Alasdair, 

Thank you for your letter dated 14 January and received yesterday.

The documents you sent me give no indication whatever that anyone at the MHRA had any reason to describe Dr Herxheimer’s and my findings as unfounded. On the contrary, they refer to several parts of our evidence (relating to excessive dosage and possible linkage between suicidal behaviour and dosage increase and drug withdrawal) that became part of the recommendations published by the EWG, well over a year later.

Thank you for repeating your apologies; in turn I confirm that Dr Herxheimer and I are happy now to let the matter drop.
