Wow, I've read so many posts from people trying to quit this and experiencing "withdrawl" symptoms. I wonder if any of these people have considered that maybe they have problems stopping it because they/their body still needs it?

I've suffered from depression/anxiety/OCD for almost 10 years now and have been on Zoloft (originally), and am currently taking Celexa. I quit taking my meds initially because I was an ignorant teenager. I suffered for nearly 7 years, trying to self-cure and "think positive thoughts" and all that bull.

I realize that mental illness can be a "moral issue" with some people, in that, many don't accept that though it's labelled a MENTAL illness, there is a physical cause for a great majority of them - mainly some kind of brain dysfunction - even schizophrenia. I'm not a medical professional, and I realize that this is just my opinion (based on some reliable fact) and respect that others have their own as well.

I see my meds as a helping hand, not a cure, in keeping me SANE while learning more about my depression, anxiety and OCD, and also in learning to cope/deal with strong emotions and negative thought patterns - which is what I feel was my main problem to begin with. my meds may be a crutch, but it's one that I needed and currently still need and I'm in no way ready to quit them.

This is a bit of a problem for me.

My fiancé and I plan to start a family soon, and I'm concerned about the lack of information about this medication. As every mother does, I want a healthy baby and certainly don't want to impose any uneccessary risks - yet I feel this med IS a necessity to me...

Cipramil/Celexa has only been out here in Canada for a short time compared to Europe. {my doc says it's been out there around 10 years or more} Anyway, absolutely NO studies have been done here or in the US on Cipramil and pregnancy! I wonder if there is more information available to any of you living over there? Please advise if you can Thanks, Jen
